‘Two Speakers, One Speaker (A Hall, A Room)’ (2018-19)

Performance, duration 20 minutes approx.

Performed by Alice Gale-Feeny.

‘Two Speakers, One Speaker (A Hall, A Room)’ (2018-19) is a solo performance that takes place across three microphones. Using a part-scripted, part-improvised dialogue it brings a number of examples where bodies meet, share and organise space into the context of the performance location, and the performer’s subjective experience.

The work utilises a series of diagrammatic and text-based prompts that accumulate each time it is performed. They outline informal, institutional, public and private ‘arrangements’ of bodies in space.

The voices included are not just the artists’ own but include scripts drawing from public dialogues facilitated by the artist, namely:  ‘In Circles Around Tables’ at The Royal Academy of Art on June 29th 2018 and ‘2-Way Street’ at Eastside Projects c/o K4 Architects, Birmingham in June 2017. Both events adopted a ‘Fishbowl Conversation’ seating format. I would like to thank participants who attended and generously contributed their experiences during these events.
